stubble free

No Comments 01 August 2011

lucky penny has been enjoying all this gorgeous weather lately… and you know what that means? with all her little dresses, short shorts, and mini-skirts, soft silky legs are a must.

thank goodness for her latest drugstore find. she la-la-loves schick intuition razors so much, she has said buh-bye to everything else. they come with these ingenious blocks of shaving cream built around the blades. so no need to lather up and rinse!

while in the shower, as soon as she drags the razor up her leg the little block gets sudsy on its own. brilliant! rechargeable blades come in packs of three, too. milk and honey soothing moisture is her favourite.

and it doesn’t stop there… lucky penny loves anything that saves her precious time, especially in the morning. with built-in moisturizer, she can even skip her daily lotion application. oh, and the razor has a cover that is perfect for when she travels to italian coast this summer.

la dolce vita, indeed.

the sweet spot

1 Comment 13 June 2011

lucky penny has a sweet tooth… so much so she was like a kid in a candy store when a handsome, little box from the sweet spot arrived at her doorstep in montreal.

handmade by baker extraordinaire kia nicolaou, these little “cakepops” and “piepops” are exactly that… mini-cakes and mini-pies packaged like lollipops. how sweet!

our girl loves lollies—cakes and pies, too—so this was really a no-brainer for her! candy pastries? even better… they are dipped in chocolate.

for cakepops, she nibbled on “chewy cherry”, a cherry cake with white chocolate and pink sprinkles, “creamy cheesecake” dipped in milk chocolate topped with graham cracker crumbs… and “oreo delight”, which is pretty self-explanatory, don’t you think?

their piepops are bite-size pieces of heaven… classics like apple and blueberry pie. creamy chocolate pie, chocolate peanut butter pie, and pecan pie are also on the menu.

lucky penny can be such a sucker, sometimes. *wink*

fur-bulous

lucky penny is brrrr.

the sub-zero temps in montreal have been making her smile… if only because (a) she can snuggle up to cute boyfriend, and (b) she can wear her *new* faux fur mezzamorphos legwarmers.

these chic accessories for your booties (designed by daniel thibault) come in snow white “fox arctique”, or a more neutral “fox”. there is also a coco-esque “perdrix” pattern, or brit-inspired “pied de poule” (that’s french for houndstooth, darling). see them all on his website, and click on “jambière“.

there are two lengths for long and not-so-long gams (25 or 35 cm)… and here is a little secret: none of them cost more than $100! [insert warm and fuzzy feeling for scoring a good deal.]

simone pérèle

2 Comments 04 January 2011

lucky penny knows that great minds must think—and dream—alike.

while penny in yvr was pining over secret nothings by agent provocateur, penny in yul had her eye on the *new* spring collection from simone pérèle.

inspired by fine perfumes, this lingerie française is just as sensual and delicate on the skin… and just as alluring. she must have been a good girl, as santa delivered! chic and vintage-inspired, the rosa bella collection comes in a comfy stretchy fabric (in candy pink or royal blue) embroidered with dainty rose petals and tiny green leaves.

with winter still in full swing, lucky penny holds simone pérèle’s blooms close to her heart (and under her winter fleece), keeping her girls snug in the spirit of spring, and hanging on ’til valentine’s day.

ga ga for guerlain

1 Comment 27 October 2010

lucky penny admits it. she has always been a francophile.

all things french rank high on her list…  such as the achingly picturesque town of saint-rémy-de-provence, hot croissants et café au lait (ideally in paris), chanel style, louis vuitton leather goods, and… yes, the irresistible fragrance world of guerlain.

the french perfumery, however, never quite worked with lucky penny’s chemistry. no matter how much the luxury scents seduced her nose (or how beautiful they looked on her dresser), there was always a creamy vanilla nuance that never seemed worked on her skin—that is, until she discovered idylle.

a light citrus, floral and musk scent, idylle is an anomaly in the guerlain portfolio, and a perfect compliment to lucky penny’s dna. one of the ingredients is ylang ylang, an essential oil from the pacific rim, which is known to be an aphrodisiac… cute boyfriend can attest to that.

finally, a guerlain perfume that this girl can say is “juste pour moi.”
