lucky penny aime les croissants… délicieux et génial! nothing more sublime than light layers of buttery goodness… from savoury ham and cheese sandwiches, to almond-filled confections dusted with sugar. her absolute favourite is the classic pain au chocolat. the catfight is about to begin at trinity-bellwoods park. ding, ding!
in this corner is clafouti from the south side of queen west. lucky penny adores its warm french country kitchen… the smell of fresh baking lingers in the air, and locals share daily newspapers. croissants are presented self-serve style in large woven baskets. hard to take just one! pain au chocolat + café noisette = perfect morning pair. pastry is light and flaky… and wonderfully wraps the decadent dark chocolate centre. en sortie, she grabs some french vichy mints and half a dozen of croissants (for breakfast tomorrow). ready to start the day!
in the opposite corner is nadège pâtisserie from the north side of queen west. stark white interior is more like a bakery from 1960′s sci-fi movie. minimalist décor aside, their french sweets are close to works of art. croissants, desserts and sammies are in a long glass case, displayed like expensive jewels. never empty-handed for a dinner party ce soir, lucky penny left with a box of flavoured violet marshmallows, and delicate macaroons from salted caramel to rose.
