lucky penny always listens to that little voice in her head that says poutine at 3am is… the. best. idea. ever. gluttony has saved her from many a morning of waking up with le headache. contenders are up… ding, ding!
in this corner is smoke’s poutinerie from adelaide street west… second shop on dundas east, third to open in march at queen and bathurst, and even a mobile kitchen (read their tweets for poutine truck’s daily location).
after a boozy evening, lucky penny loves the traditional poutine (add sriracha, spicy thai red sauce, to sober up). with so many mouth-watering options, she did her research and also recommends the country style poutine: slow roast chicken breast, caramelized onions (one of her many vices), sauteed mushrooms and double-smoked bacon. isn’t everything better with bacon?
in the opposite corner is (who else?) poutini’s house of poutine from queen west west… especially after a naughty night out at the beaconsfield.
their traditional poutine means business. served in biodegradable sugercane bowls with cornstarch forks… nothing like real squeaky cheese curds, hand-cut fries (skin still on), and gravy that has simmered for 8 hours. lucky penny luxuriates in each sinful bite. omg.
other notable poutines about town… braised beef poutine appie at kiwe kitchen, the spoke club‘s peking duck delicacy, victory café has a hint of cinnamon in gravy, or lobster poutine at le petit castor!

ahhh poutini’s… what would a friday or saturday eve be without you?
